The Freedom Division takes its name from Freedom Drive, a busy east-west arterial in west Charlotte. It covers Oaklawn, Beatties Ford Road, and the Brookshire Freeway corridor - neighborhoods with deep roots in Charlotte's African-American history and community institutions.
